How do we define ‘Intelligence’ and how do we interpret ‘Artistic Intelligence’? Is there a battle between Artistic Intelligence (AI) and Artificial Intelligence (AI)? Or are they converging to create a fundamental transformation of artistic practices and the world at large? And are the boundaries between these two AIs still that clear—if such boundaries even exist anymore?

These intriguing questions led us to start the AI & AI project. It turned out to be an unexpectedly rewarding and inspiring journey through the AI & AI Survey, a workshop, video essay, student-led sub-projects, and the creation of this digital book, among others. Most of the questions remain open, but together with all the participants and partners, we have gained more multi-dimensional and diverse perspectives, approaches and interpretations.

It is a great pleasure to have you land here: a starting point to nurture more ideas around the relationship between Artistic and Artificial Intelligence, as well as a platform for dialogue and discussion.
