Cy Twombly’s Quattro Stagioni Studies in Art-Based Learning
The great joy of looking at art and losing oneself in it is that it opens a door to ‘possible worlds’. This is what Lisa, the protagonist of this art novella by Jeroen Lutters, discovers: a world where dreams and reality merge together. Lisa has come face to face with death. Looking for answers about the duration of life, she enters into a dialogue with four works by the American painter Cy Twombly and discovers the secret of the creative force of nature. Lisa’s reflections and dreams bring her to Gaeta, a seaside resort between Rome and Naples, where Parmenides’ school of Elea was located in antiquity. She follows Twombly’s footsteps there, and her quest also brings her together with many other works of art, poetry, and music.
