The Ideal Woman
This book is about ‘The ideal woman’ and raises the question of what function women have as role models in contemporary fashion. Are they still muses who decide everything for designers, an ultimate idealized image? This no longer seems to be the case. Martin Margiela puts stockings on the heads of his models and reduces them to living mannequins, while Viktor & Rolf let their portrayal of women depend on the concept behind their collections.
