Farewell and book presentation Jeroen Lutters
After forty years in arts and cultural education, Jeroen Lutters, Professor (Lector) of Art Education as Critical Tactics (AeCT) at ArtEZ, is retiring. To mark the occasion, a final gathering will be held on Wednesday, June 12, focusing once more on how meaning emerges through dialogue with art. This event will also feature the presentation of three new books developed over the past two years, including two new titles published by ArtEZ Press: De poëzie van het bestaan. Voorbije passages and Rothko in St. Ives.
In De poëzie van het bestaan. Voorbije passages, a collaboration between Jeroen and his son Boris Lutters, the central question is how the development of a poetic consciousness can help rediscover access to a creative universe. The book is a passionate plea for recognizing the arts and humanities as a process of self-transcendence. Additionally, Rothko in St. Ives will be presented, which takes a closer look at coping with death through the late works of Mark Rothko, in particular the Seagram Murals. The book is a search for meaning in existence.
During the program at the Rietveld canteen in Arnhem, both publications will be highlighted. Led by Jolijn Valk, a conversation will take place regarding the themes of the books, and student Sifra Kock will share an excerpt from the work on Rothko. The afternoon will be marked by the official presentation of the books to Tamara Rumiantsev, Director of the ArtEZ Research Centre.
